Local arts organizations are launching an innovative celebration of the arts across the South Coast region in May 2021. SouthCoast Spring Arts will provide a week celebrating the place and presence of the arts in our communities by connecting innovative, creative, affordable and participatory art and cultural events in communities across the South Coast region, from Fall River to Wareham. Art lovers of all ages are invited to ignite their creative spirit and celebrate SouthCoast Spring Arts.

Strike a Pose!: The Yoga Challenge

May 9 – 15, 2021

Yoga is the art of practicing movements and poses to help discover the balance between the mind and body. The experience the two create can open the heart to connect you to your surroundings and home. Deepen your connection by bringing your yoga practice to your favorite SouthCoast spot. Snap a picture of yourself “striking” these five yoga poses and tag us! Then join us and The Barre New Bedford on May 16 for some yoga in the park!

Yoga Poses:

  1. Boat
  2. Warrior 1
  3. Tree
  4. Dolphin
  5. Figure 4

Guidelines:

  1. Pick your favorite spot anywhere in the SouthCoast
  2. Take a photo of yourself doing all five poses (Be Careful!)
  3. Post to your social media account(s).
  4. Tag @whalingmuseum and @thebarrenewbedford
  5. Use the hashtags #IgniteSouthCoastArts and #StrikeaPose

Yoga is the art of practicing movements and poses to help discover the balance between the mind and body. Grab your mat and join the New Bedford Whaling Museum and The Barre New Bedford for a free yoga class. Feel the crisp spring air, hear the sounds of the harbor, and practice the art of yoga immersed in the museum’s Captain Paul Cuffe Park in the heart of Downtown New Bedford. Suitable for all levels of practice. Bring your own mat. Free & open to the public. Space is limited.
