First Fridays | National Authors' Day Celebration

On Friday, November 1, celebrate National Authors' Day at the New Bedford Whaling Museum – a day packed full of literary delights in appreciation of authors who spend countless hours penning our favorite stories!

During museum hours, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase books, get them signed and personalized, and to listen to authors read passages from their books (included with museum admission). The Museum Store will carry books by all of the authors to be featured.

In the evening, for our First Fridays program, curated for guests ages 21+, the museum will host a meet-and-greet reception with authors, complete with lite bites, a cash bar, and pop-up performances by spoken word artists and poets.  The Museum Store will remain open so you can shop for your favorite and get them signed by authors present at the event.

MORNING PROGRAM | 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Story Time with Children’s Authors (scheduled authors to be announced), free with museum admission.

AFTERNOON PROGRAM | 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Authors read excerpts from their books (scheduled authors to be announced), free with museum admission.

EVENING PROGRAM | 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
First Fridays meet-and-greet reception with authors, featuring poetry & spoken word performances, curated for a 21+ audience.  This portion of the program is ticketed at $10 for Museum Members or $20 for general public.
