First Friday: Indie Music Showcase – A Moving Feast for the Ears

This October, the New Bedford Whaling Museum becomes a multi-sensory stage for First Friday: Indie Music Showcase – A Moving Feast for the Ears, presented in collaboration with Unexpected Music.

Explore the Museum as live indie performances unfold room by room—a progressive concert experience where each gallery offers a new sound, a new mood, and a new artist to discover. From stripped-down acoustic sets to bold experimental acts, it’s a night of immersive music and creative energy inside one of New Bedford’s most iconic cultural spaces. 18+ event (must be 21+ with valid ID for bar service).

MUSIC LINEUP
Times are approximate, programming subject to change.

5:30 PM – Myles Romano | Lower Lobby (LL), Jacobs Family Gallery
An atmospheric opening set of harp and guitar, possibly paired with projected visuals to set the tone for the evening.

6:15 PM – Band Duel: Scapeghost vs. Picniclunch | Upper Level (UL), Harbor View Gallery
Two bands. One unforgettable clash of indie sound.

Scapeghost — Featuring Scott Bishop (guitar/vocals), Michael Mclaine (drums), and Ryan Miller (bass), New Bedford-based Scapeghost dips pop songs in unusual sounds. Think of them as Brian Eno producing the weird love child of the Flaming Lips and Hüsker Dü.

Picniclunch — Devin Byrns (bass/vocals), Michael Ribeiro (guitar/vocals), and Mack Williamson (drums). Expect an off-kilter blend of jazz-punk and sonic improvisation.
Catch them in alternating bursts—trading sets and energy in a musical back-and-forth like no other.

7:15 PM – Danny Lulu | Main Level (ML), Bourne Building / Lagoda
A site-specific set in the historic Lagoda. Danny Lulu’s layered, place-based performance will weave sound, memory, and storytelling with projected imagery on and around the sails of the Lagoda.

7:45 PM – Wire Lines | Lobby (L), Cook Memorial Theater
Ryan Parker (bass), Jeremy Medeiros (guitar), Ted Isley (drums), and Kevin Grant (vocals). Gritty, emotionally charged post-hardcore-influenced indie rock.

Beer & Wine Bar will be available (cash bar) throughout the evening (must be 21+ and valid ID is required) and lite complimentary bites will be provided.
