First Friday | Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Friday, May 5, 2023 from 6:00 to 9:00PM

The Museum's First Fridays continue with a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 5. Enjoy the museum afterhours, margaritas under the whale bones, traditional music of Mexico, and participatory art projects inspired by Mexico’s most iconic figures Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera.

Join artist Alyn Carlson at the "flower crown" station and learn to make flowers of Mexico, then arrange your creations on a headband to have a forever crown of your own. Limited to 30 people, first come first served.

Alyn has loved all things Mexican since the 7th grade, when her teacher, Miss Eleanor Moffit introduced her to the beautiful country. Alyn is a New Bedford based artist with a studio at Hatch Street Studios. She works in paper and paint. Learn more about Alyn at: alyncarlsonportfolio.com

Paper flowers aren't your thing? Head over to the large canvas on an easel and try your hand at painting like Diego Rivera!

Theme-inspired lite bites are included with your admission ticket.
