Ignite! Youth Art Showcase

Thursday, April 21st
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Harbor View Gallery

Free and open to the public.

This special exhibit showcases artworks from local students inspired by Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast. The showcase features paintings and drawings from more than 20 young artists in grades 4 through 12. Their artworks reflect the inspiration of abolitionists Polly Johnson and Harriet Jacobs, labor activists Eulalia Mendes and Laurinda Andrade, artists Cecil Clark Davis and Nancy Holt, and more.

These artworks come from a call for artists in March 2022 when youth were invited to ignite interest in the impact of women from the region through original artworks. Students from 10 different afterschool, school, or homeschools submitted artworks, including Youth Opportunities unlimited, Global Learning Charter School, and Dartmouth High School. A “best in show” will be awarded in three age categories.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
