ART IGNITES HISTORY!

Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast is a project that is unearthing remarkable stories of women who have shaped their communities. Many extraordinary women have been profiled as part of the project.

On March 12, 2020, young artists from throughout the community were invited to showcase original works highlighting the themes, accomplishments, or stories amplified through these profiles. Many of the projects focused on the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, honored the unfinished legacy of the women’s suffrage movement, and highlighted women who were civically engaged.
