Alison Wells

New Bedford has been Alison’s home away from home for the past 16 years.

The Greater New Bedford area has, and continues to serve, as a major source of inspiration for Alison Wells' art, both consciously and subconsciously. Orginally from Trinidad, Wells moved to New Bedford 16 years ago. She is influenced greatly by the region's rich architecture, prolific fishing harbor, fascinating histories of whaling, the Underground Railroad, its multicultural backbone, and the artistic veins that pump the City of New Bedford with life and vitality. Wells fuses these themes with her Caribbean culture and sensibilities to create unique and vibrant mixed media paintings in this series titled In the Neighborhood.
