Join the New Bedford Whaling Museum for a day trip to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Enjoy two private, curator-led tours of exhibitions selected by our Chief Curator, plus free time to explore the museum, have lunch, and visit Salem. Travel with a member of our curatorial and membership team and connect with fellow Museum members on this special outing.

Itinerary

7:45 am: Meet at the NBWM plaza

8:00 am: Depart via private coach to Salem

10:00 am*: Arrive at Peabody Essex Museum

  • Guided tour of Draw Me Ishmael and Salem Stories
  • Self-Guided Museum exploration
  • Lunch and Free time

3:00 PM: Depart Salem

5:30 PM*: Arrive back in New Bedford

  1. Can I bring my friend who is not a member? This trip is available for Museum Members only. Your friend is welcome to become a member to join! (link) https://www.whalingmuseum.org/support/join/
  2. What is included in the trip price? The price includes transportation via private coach to and from the Peabody Essex Museum, as well as admission to the Museum, and two private curator-led tours.
  3. What kind of bus will be used for transportation? https://www.fisherbusinc.com/our-fleet/mid-size-coach/
  4. Are the tours accessible for people with mobility issues? All public areas of the Peabody Essex Museum are wheelchair accessible, with the exception of their historic houses. They have limited wheelchairs and walkers available, please inform us in advance if you want us to request one for you.
  5. Are there recommended places to eat nearby or inside the museum? The Museum has a café, but there are many local restaurants nearby. Here are a few suggestions: Witchside Tavern, Rockafellas Restaurant, Olde Main Street Pub, Gula Gula Café, and The Tavern
  6. Is this trip refundable if I cancel? This trip is non-refundable.
