First Friday: Genre-Bending Grooves with Boo City

Friday, May 1 | Galleries Open 5:00–8:00 PM | Music at 6:00 PM

Experience an evening where art and music collide. All Museum galleries will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with live music by Boo City starting at 6:00 PM in the Jacobs Family Gallery. Explore the Museum after hours in a lively, welcoming atmosphere, and enjoy lite complimentary refreshments and a cash bar with the music performance.

Boo City, a Providence, RI–based band, delivers a genre-blending sound that is energetic, melodic, and refreshingly original. Their music merges Country-Blues, Indie Rock, Reggae, Retro-Soul, and Folk influences—sometimes all in the same song—creating a dynamic and unpredictable live experience.

The band’s vocal pairing of Tai Awolaju’s smoky, sultry tone with Andrew Moon Bain’s deep, resonant voice brings depth and warmth to every track. Horn player Grayson Farmer adds brassy texture with a soil sensibility

Praised by Providence Monthly for electrifying rooms both intimate and expansive, Boo City draws inspiration from The Clash, Sam Cooke, Jimi Hendrix, and King Tubby. Their performance blends R&B, folk, singer-songwriter and tasteful guitar work into an intimate, unforgettable evening of music.
