Right Whale Day 2016

April 18, 2016
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
* Free Activities!

Monday, April 18th was Right Whale Day. The Museum offered free family activities focusing on the highly endangered North Atlantic right whale starting at 10:00 a.m. under the massive right whale skeleton on permanent exhibit in the Jacobs Family Gallery. Visitors were invited to walk inside a life-sized inflatable right whale and stand next to a life-sized inflatable right whale calf for a photo. Kids were challenged with the coastal obstacle course as they attempted to survive the dangers right whales face in their migrations. Their observation skills were also tested by identifying individual whales based on their markings. Learning to draw a right whale with author Cheryl Lawton took place in the afternoon. All visitors enjoyed a slice of “right whale cake” at 1:35 p.m. April Vacation & Right Whale Day Flyer (pdf)
