A full week of crafts, hands-on activities and lots of fun for all! Visitors learned about whales and the Museum by joining a highlights tour, climbing inside an inflatable whale, getting crafty at art stations, and listening to stories of life aboard a whaleship from Museum docents. Right Whale Day
Monday, April 16th
10 am – 2 pm
Learn to eat, see, and hear like a Right Whale
Enjoy fun learning activities for kids and adults that focus on fostering greater awareness and appreciation of the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale.

Right Whale Day is completely FREE for New Bedford Residents, Whaling Museum members, and free with admission for families outside of New Bedford.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Climb inside a life-sized inflatable whale.

Kids’ Crafts and Activities
Learn how to feed our friendly squid, Sam, create logbooks to take home, and learn about Right Whales.
11 am AND 1 pm
Museum Highlights Tours
Tour the Museum with a docent to hear stories of New Bedford’s role in U.S. history, and see some of our most historically significant artifacts and visitor favorites.

To Catch a Whale
Join docents as they share stories of life leading up to and aboard a whaleship. How did crew sign on to a voyage? What did they get paid? What did captains promise their crew?

All Aboard the Lagoda
Join the crew of Captain C. Weade on board the largest model whaleship in the world – the Lagoda – for an adventure on the high seas! Travel the world, interact with new cultures, learn the ropes of a whaleship, and go a-whaling.

Here Fishie Fishie!
Learn about old and new ways of catching and counting fish.
