On AHA! night, young people ages 12 to 25 years lit up the night with brilliant words illuminating the lives of historic women of the SouthCoast. The Spoken Word Contest was presented by Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast in partnership with the Bristol Community College Women’s Center, and the YWCA.

Award winners received $50 and their pieces may be featured on the Lighting the Way website or other Lighting the Way materials.

Lighting the Way: Historic Women of SouthCoast explores the historical impact of women from the region. Young people have selected women featured in Lighting the Way as inspiration for their spoken word pieces.
