Wednesday, July 12
6 pm – 8 pm
Free and open to the public

Kathleen Using Morse Code Kathleen spoke about her 1980s rows across the Atlantic and South Pacific Oceans. Attendees listened to stories of how Saville rowed in stormy weather along the Moroccan coast, over 3,600 miles across the Atlantic, from Callao, Peru to the Galapagos Islands, and to the Marquesas Islands, American Samoa, Vanuatu, and through Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Saville navigated via sextant and compass, and, at times, simply by the stars. She communicated via Morse code, and faced unforeseen challenges of life in a row boat on the open ocean.
