A family-friendly Halloween event geared toward children 12 and under
Visitors met ghosts from New Bedford’s seafaring past and headed out on a scavenger hunt while roaming the spooky galleries of the century-old Museum. The not-too-scary fun included a costume parade, arts & crafts, and refreshments. Whale merchant Jonathan Bourne and his daughter, Emily, returned from the great beyond on their Haunted Whaleship – the Lagoda. Children needed to be accompanied by an adult.
Special thanks to the National Park Service and local historians Lucy Bly and Judy Roderiques.
FREE for kids under 12
All others $5
Haunted Whaleship Pumpkin Contest
Visitors were invited to carve a pumpkin AT HOME, give it a brilliant name, then bring it to HAUNTED WHALESHIP for a chance to win a T-shirt and Museum passes.
