Morgan arrived in New Bedford on Wednesday, June 25. The ship was open to the public after the official opening ceremony on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. and departed on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014.

Scholars, collectors, armchair historians and interested nautical enthusiasts were welcomed to New Bedford for an opportunity to discuss and share their interests in whaling history.

Built in 1841 at Hillman Brothers shipyard in New Bedford, the Charles W. Morgan has a long history leading up to its recent return to seaworthiness.
The Museum’s Research Library affords Morgan enthusiasts the ability to glimpse first-hand into her past through an assortment of rare historical documents complemented by many scholarly publications.

From our earliest days the Museum has collected images and objects related to the Charles W. Morgan.
Our Beetle Whaleboat is now fully constructed and joined the Charles W. Morgan at Mystic Seaport as part of its historic 38th Voyage.
