Whales Today Live
A celebration of the beauty, behavior, and vulnerability of whales through music and dance
June 1, 2019
6 pm Reception and Exhibition Viewing
7 pm Performance
The New Bedford Whaling Museum hosted a group of contemporary dancers who interpreted a newly installed exhibition, Whales Today, through improvisational movements. The exhibition explores the science and behavior of these magnificent mammals in the world’s ocean. The live performance was set to music specifically composed by local artists inspired by the exhibition and its contents. Guests were free to explore the exhibition galleries throughout the night to elevate their experience and gain their own interpretations. An exclusive talk with the artists took place after the performance.
