NASA Space Day: Explorations of Faraway Places

New Bedford Science Café Kids event
FREE and open to the public, all ages
Calling all kids and young scientists – Come to the New Bedford Science Café Kids event! Travel to the far reaches of our solar system and beyond with students from the NASA Solar System Explorers at the Ford Middle School in Acushnet. These young scientists and NASA Solar System Ambassador Joe Cote were at the Whaling Museum to connect visitors to several of the exciting projects being conducted by NASA! The Solar System Explorers had four indoor learning stations and one outdoor learning station.
- Handle real moon rocks.
- Look through a solar spotting scope.
- View images from the TESS Mission to find exoplanets.
- Learn about current exploration of the surface of Mars.
- Create space crafts.
- Enjoy free cookies.
The New Bedford Science Café Kids event was sponsored by NASA, Acushnet Public Schools, New Bedford Science Café, New Bedford Parks, Recreation and Beaches, New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Visitors joined the crew of Captain C. Weade on board the world’s largest ship model for an adventure on the high seas! Travel the world, interact with new cultures, learn the ropes of a whaleship, and go-a-whaling.
