Front & Centre Holiday Market
November 27 | 12:00 - 4:00 PM
Keep our neighborhood “Front and Centre” this holiday shopping season. The shops and organizations on Front, Centre, N. Water, William and Bethel streets are hosting our second annual holiday market on Sunday, November 27th from 12-4pm in historic downtown New Bedford.
At the New Bedford Whaling Museum, we'll be joined by some of our favorite local artists - Lynn Hahn from Jewels of Earthsea and Michelle Lapointe from the Glass Connector.
Lynn Hahn is a contemporary lampwork artist and beaded jewelry designer. A retired teacher, she received her BS in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut and did her post-graduate studies in Marine Science Education at Eastern Connecticut State University. She has always lived within an hour of the coast, and currently lives less than a mile from the shores of Buzzards Bay in MA. She creates incredibly colorful, original glass beads which are the jewels in her designs.
Michelle Lapointe has been creating artworks of stained glass for more than 30 years. She is also a painter and photographer, working in a wide range of styles from fluid forms to hard-edged geometrics. Lapointe, now a resident of Mattapoisett, grew up in New Bedford and graduated with a degree in sociology from Southeastern Massachusetts University, now the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
After shopping at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, check out the other local businesses participating in the Front & Centre Holiday Market including: United Way of Greater New Bedford, Buzzards Bay Coalition, Fiberoptic Center, BeJeweled, Salt & Sole, The Drawing Room, Seamen's Bethel, Fishing Heritage Center, Lat 41 Outfitters.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
