Call for Young Artists IGNITE

Young artists were invited to ignite interest in the impact of women from the region through original art projects. Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast is a project that is unearthing remarkable stories of women who have shaped their communities.

Many extraordinary women have been profiled as part of the project. Original works of art were solicited that highlight the themes, accomplishments, or stories amplified through these profiles. Projects that focus on the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, honor the unfinished legacy of the women’s suffrage movement, or highlight women who were civically engaged were especially encouraged.

Art chosen to be a part of the Ignite showcase was exhibited or performed at a showcase at the Whaling Museum on March 12, 2020, 6-8 p.m. All pieces included in the showcase were eligible for a cash award based on their relevance, creativity, and originality. Award winners were announced after the showcase.
