Whaling Museum issues multiple RFPs for exhibit expansion, campus enhancements
Interactive exhibits detailed in five Requests For Proposals emphasize community collaboration
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – The New Bedford Whaling Museum has issued five Requests For Proposals (RFPs), inviting local and regional contractors, fabricators, artists and designers to collaborate on a variety of creative installations throughout the Museum campus, geared toward innovative learning and overall enhancement of the visitor experience.
The RFPs – all of which are downloadable at www.whalingmuseum.org/career – include several interactive exhibits to be designed and installed in the new William M. Wood Casa dos Botes Discovery Center, scheduled to open in spring 2016 within the Museum’s newly opened Wattles Jacobs Education Center. Other RFPs include the design and construction of a new permanent Fo’c’sle interactive exhibit, a Whale Biology and Ecology interactive exhibit, and additional creative interactives, which teach the principals of navigation in engaging new ways to visitors of all ages.
The five RFPs represent $140,000 to $185,000 in new investment in museum exhibits.
