Party for the Ocean 2018

August 13, 2018
10 am – 3 pm

This family-friendly event was free to the public.

Ocean health and marine science was front and center on August 13. Visitors of all ages were able to celebrate the ocean and learn about marine life at the Museum’s Party for the Ocean, with activities located in the Jacobs Family Gallery. Access to the Museum’s other exhibits and galleries during the event was subject to regular admission fees (free for Museum members).

During Party for the Ocean, visitors experienced how whales stay warm, how they see, hear, and stay afloat, and were able to explore inside a 43-foot inflatable humpback whale. Also featured was an up-close-and-personal ocean touch table from the Lloyd Center for the Environment, simulated dolphin rescue and marine animal rehabilitation with National Marine Life Center, and other activities presented by the Buttonwood Park Zoo, Buzzards Bay Coalition, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s High School Apprentices. Visitors could also enjoy Party for the Ocean cake.

Groups of 10 or more were are asked to give advance notice by emailing education@whalingmuseum.org.
