K-12 Education Programs

K-12 school, after school, camp, and other groups can explore the Whaling Museum’s art, history, science, and culture content through the Whaling Museum’s K-12 educational visit program. Groups can choose between self-guided, guided, or virtual education programs. Programs are designed to comply with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core for specified grade levels.

Guided Education Programs

Explore the Whaling Museum with a guide while engaging in thought-provoking, hands-on activities and lessons during a guided education program. Guided programs are designed to comply with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core for specified grade levels. Most programs can be adjusted to accommodate group needs and the Education Department can work with you to customize guided experiences. Book a guided visit.

 

Self-Guided Education Programs

Explore the Whaling Museum at your own pace during a self-guided group visit. The Education Department can work with you to customize your self-guided experience. Past self-guided experiences have included explorations of Whales Today, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, Captain Paul Cuffe, and Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast. Virtual Education Programs

Explore the Whaling Museum online during one of our virtual education programs. Museum educators lead these interactive sessions, which may include pre- and post-program activities. Virtual education programs are designed to comply with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core for specified grade levels.
