"The Dartmouth" custom ship model

Custom model of Dartmouth, the first ship
build in New Bedford.

The Harboring Hope in Old Dartmouth: 1602 - 1825 exhibition opening coincides with the Dartmouth 350 anniversary, and the Museum will collaborate to launch related festivities in the spring. In time for this event, the recently completed Dartmouth model commissioned in honor of past President of the Board, John Garfield, Jr., and currently on display in The Art of the Ship Model, will be moved to Harboring Hope to tell the story of this ship’s pivotal role in the Boston Tea Party. This exquisite piece is one of many objects from the Museum’s collection that will breathe life into the story of Old Dartmouth.
