New Bedford Whaling Museum names Stephanie Poyant Moran, Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. —New Bedford Whaling Museum has named Stephanie Poyant Moran, Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations. In this newly created position, Moran will serve as a member of the Senior Management Team providing leadership in the area of marketing and communications strategy, implementation and management.
“We are very excited that Stephanie will join our Senior Management Team. I have long been greatly impressed with her command of her field and know that she will bring her enthusiasm, insights and creative thinking to this position. With the construction of the new Education Center and Research Library, plus the arrival of the Charles W. Morgan this summer, this is the perfect time for Stephanie to come in here and effectively double the capacity of our marketing efforts,” states James Russell, President and CEO. “She will have a broad portfolio including Visitors Services, Marketing and Branding plus Government Relations. The museum has benefited from a year-over-year increase in paid admissions. We believe that now is the right time to invest in marketing this museum to a national and international audience, which is premised on our analysis of visitor traffic and demographics.”
The NBWM Senior Management Team includes Alison Smart, Senior Director of Development, Michelle Taylor, Senior Director of Finance, Christina Connett, Curator of Exhibitions and Collections and Michael Lapides, Curator of Digital Initiatives.
Before joining the Whaling Museum, Moran held the position of Public Information Officer and New Media Specialist at Southcoast Health System in New Bedford. Prior to that, she was the Public Information Officer and Executive Assistant to Mayor Scott W. Lang of New Bedford.
Moran holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management and Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She is the Chair of the Board of Managers at the New Bedford YMCA and a member of the Fort Taber-Fort Rodman Historical Association Board of Directors.
Moran resides in New Bedford with her husband, Ross, and their daughter, Elle.
The New Bedford Whaling Museum is the world's most comprehensive museum devoted to the global story of whales, whaling and the cultural history of the region. The cornerstone of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, the Museum is located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill in the heart of the city's historic downtown.
