NEW BEDFORD, MA (6.26.08) - - At the Barnes & Noble store in the Dartmouth Towne Center, July 18th is a special day for both book lovers and friends of the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
That's the day when the Dartmouth Barnes & Noble will turn back to the museum a portion of sales made by shoppers who identify themselves as museum supporters when they are checking out. As an additional bonus for museum backers, the bookstore will be featuring titles relating to the brand new exhibit, Sea & Sky: Atmospheric Explorations by William Bradford and Other Marine Artists, that opens to the public at 7:30 p.m. the evening before, Thursday, July 17th. The Sea & Sky exhibit presents cloud studies on canvas and paper by artists who lived and worked in the New Bedford area.
"The Whaling Museum is extremely grateful to Barnes & Noble Dartmouth for its generous support," said Alison Meyer, Associate Director of Development. "This is a wonderful opportunity for people who are building their own personal library, looking for that perfect gift book or who want to learn more about the artists that are featured in the Sea & Sky exhibit. Everyone benefits, thanks to Barnes & Noble's spirit of public service."
Barnes & Noble, 392 State Road (Route 6) in Dartmouth, is open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
