[1] Letter
of application, stating interests, special qualifications,
reasons for applying, and the term or period or dates you
are available. Please include all relevant mailing addresses,
email addresses, and telephone numbers.
[2] Résumé,
curriculum vitae, or formal dossier summarizing chronologically
all colleges and universities attended, degrees awarded
or anticipated (with dates), fellowships and awards, history
of work experience and professional activities, prior museum
positions held, etc.
[3] A
sample of written work (in English), preferably
on a scholarly subject related to your museum interest.
[4] References:
Names, addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers
of at least three (3) references (may be appended to the
resume or letter of application); OR three (3) letters of
reference (preferably in English) from university faculty
or employers or others who can testify to your ability and
promise as a scholar and museum professional.
[5] An
interview
at the New Bedford Whaling Museum is required wherever possible.
Foreign applicants and others who may for good reason be
unable to appear in person at the Museum for a formal interview,
are advised to submit a full dossier including three letters-of-recommendation
(preferably in English), together with a sample of written
work in English; and a telephone number where the applicant
can be contacted for a telephone interview.
Important:
It is not required that documentation of health insurance
(medical coverage) be submitted with the application, but
certification of health insurance is required of all accepted
applicants before they are enrolled as Interns. This can
be a college or university health plan, family plan, individual
policy, or any other instrument that provides comprehensive
coverage.
