Ways to Support the Museum

There are many tax-deductible ways to support the mission and work of the Old Dartmouth Historical Society – New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted contributions which support every aspect of the Museum’s operations, exhibitions, and educational programming.  Gifts may be made in cash, by check, or with appreciated securities, and are used to support areas of greatest need.  To make a donation to the Annual Fund, click here.

Capital Gifts and Gifts to the Endowment assist the Museum in building the physical facilities and financial strength necessary to ensure its second century of service to a growing audience.  Naming opportunities are available.

Planned Gifts and Bequests often allow donors to make a larger donation than might be possible for them through an outright gift.  Including the Museum in your estate plans often has tax and income advantages, and offers the personal satisfaction of making a meaningful charitable contribution toward the Museum’s future.  A range of gift options is available.  For more information on planned gifts and bequests, click here.

Matching Gifts can double an individual contribution.  Many companies will match the charitable gifts made by their employees.  Check with your personnel office for details.

Gifts-in-Kind such as equipment, services, and artifacts (which fall within the Museum’s collecting area) are welcome.  Non-cash gifts of assets have special rules regarding tax deductibility.

For more information on making these and other types of gifts, please contact Maureen O’Brien at 508-717-6816 or Kathy Clarendon at 508-717-6844.
